Jaco, Costa Rica. We have been here since March 5, 2021. It’s heavy, there’s a depression and darkness that lingers in the air. When our squad was told we would be going to Costa Rica we had no idea what to expect. Our squad originally was planning on going to the Middle East. Some re-launchers were blessed enough to go to different places in the Middle East but were unfortunately pulled off of the field due to Covid. Up until January we had no idea where the Lord was going to take us. We started in Guatemala and we all fell absolutely in love.

In the midst of a pandemic we are grateful for the opportunity to travel, however our hearts are still tender from staying in Central America and not being able to pursue the 10-40 window. I went into further detail about the 10-40 window in this previous blog Being Sent Differently (Meeting With The Secret Church).

We are currently helping a ministry called Oceans Edge. My squad has been able to work on so many different projects, but our biggest and most frequently worked on project are light posts. Ocean’s Edge was contracted by the government, which is huge, if you know anything about religion and government. They do not have a partnership at all, not just in the states but anywhere. To have the government reach out to the ministry is a BIG deal.

The idea with every post is that each one has a base that’s dark and the further you go up the lighter it gets. Starting from dark to light. It is prophetic to what the Lord is doing in Jaco and everyone is seeing it.

Many people will stop and thank us, or ask to paint and join in the light and joy we’re trying to spread.

My squad had the expectation of working with unreached people groups but we are called to paint light posts and interact with people who are unseen. People who need a light in a dark place. It was hard to see the fruit of what we did there,  but I know that there were seeds planted. Our time in Jaco has been good, but challenging– I know it has been purposeful and the Lord is working through our art work. It might not have been what we wanted or expected, but my squad is willing to do whatever it takes to bring people close to the Lord. Even if it is doing something as simple as painting light posts and loving the community well.
