A few nights ago some of our squad put on a Beauty for Ashes event for our gap year girls. One team made breakfast burritos/tacos for dinner. Averie (who’s an intern at Ocean’s Edge, where we’re staying) lead worship, and our Beauty for Ashes people ran each teaching. In our squad there are 6 wonderful women who are coordinators for Beauty for Ashes.

You’re probably wondering okay but what is Beauty for Ashes. Well it’s a non profit organization under Adventures in Missions to introduce the gospel to women. It creates a space for women to come together and express themselves while learning who they are in Christ. You can also do events for teens as well, which is amazing being able to teach our youth these things early on. Beauty for Ashes can be for any age group which is beautiful and uniting among women.

Our squad introduced gap year to Beauty for Ashes so we could love on them well while preparing them to teach the same content on the field. At the event they did two teachings:

•How they view God with an activities of drawing how they pictured God.

•Forgiveness, a space open to forgive people and let God take the burden of their hurts.

In between teachings we had worship. It was really beautiful to watch not just our beauty for ashes peeps but everyone on the property come together for the gap year girls and love on them.

It was also cool to watch them draw how they view God and being able to hear of what God is showing them in this season.

These moments are tender and sweet to be apart of and I’m thankful I could  capture some of it.

These sweet girls are headed off to Panamá this Thursday. Please join me in prayer for them:

Lord,
Thank you for the love you have for each one of these girls we we’re able to meet. Please keep them safe as they travel and venture into a new place to spread your love. We praise and thank you for the work you’re doing in each one of them. We love them so much but we know your love for them is far beyond what we can understand. Thank you for that.

Amen
